Viners Rattail 58 piece Viscount Canteen
This pattern first appeared in 1604. The 'rat's tail' alluded to in the name refers to the way the spoons were originally attached to the handles. As they were unable to make spoons in one piece in the 1600's, the base was fixed to the handle with a long spine, which looks like a tail.
