J.A. Henckels, the world's leading quality knife manufacturer have been producing knives for over 260 years. Always at the forefront of new technology, special materials and processes developed by J.A. Henckels have improved corrosion resistance and blade sharpness to a remarkable degree. The Sintermetal Component Technology process (SCT) which was developed by J.A. Henckles allows differeing grades of steel to be combined to form a single integral piece. The three parts of the knife, the blade, the tang and bolster, therefore, are made from types of steel each of which is the optimum grade for that part of the knife. Only J.A. Henckels have the technology to produce knives using the SCT process. Every J.A. Henckels knife goes through 40 different stages of production to acheive the highest standards in qulaity, comfort and performance. The result is a knife that sets the standards that other manufacturers try to follow.

An ice hardening process developed by J.A. Henckels which involves freezing the steel used in the manufacture of the knives to - 70 degrees centigrade. This results in a metal of exceptional hardness and a high resistance to corrosion.
